Welcome to First Grade! I am Mrs. Sheri Ferris and am excited to be teaching First Grade again this year. This is my 29th year of teaching (27 of those were as a Kindergarten Teacher!). I received my undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Illinois State University and have a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University. I love teaching the younger students and believe it is critical to provide a strong foundation as they begin their educational career. Young students come in with such inquisitive minds and I hope to foster their natural curiosity as I help to build their confidence as a life long learner.
At home I have a wonderful husband (who is a dolphin trainer at Brookfield Zoo), 4 amazing children, (Brendan 22, Colin 21, Alannah 17 and Teagan 11), 2 cats (Carmel and Comet) and a dog (Leia). The boys are off at college but the girls are still keeping us very busy with cross country, track, cheerleading and gymnastics!
I am looking forward to an exciting year in First Grade!
